By Road
From the Valencia Airport, it’s about a 12km journey to the stadium. You’ll go South from the airport, heading for V-11. Merge onto V-11 and then you’ll merge onto E-901/A-3, following the signs for Valencia. Follow Avinguda del Cid/CV-3663/Av del Cid, and then take the ramp to Av del Cid. Turn left at Calle del 9 de Octubre, passing through 1 roundabout. Turn right at Paseo de la Pechina, slightly right at Calle de Castan Tobenas, and then slightly right to get back onto Paseo de la Pechina. This road will have many names, including Calle de Guillem de Castro, Calle de Blanquerias, and Calle del Pintor Lopez – but stay on this road. You’ll turn left finally at Peunte de las Flores, which will then turn into Paseo de la Alameda. At the roundabout, you’ll take the 2nd exit onto Av de Suecia, and then turn right to stay on this road. The stadium will be on your right.

Eating and drinking
Barrio del Carmen is one of the major nightlife neighbourhoods in the city centre, which caters to a generally young and trendy crowd. There are a number of bars and clubs here, including Café Infanta, Johnny Maracas and Blue Iguana. Drinks tend to be on the pricier side, but then these are some of the places to be seen in the city.
Slightly further away you'll find the more relaxed district of Plaza del Cedro and its surrounding streets. Plenty of tapas bars and restaurants where can enjoy a pint and a bite to eat at slightly more reasonable prices - look out for the offers in the early evening (6-8pm ish) where a lot of places will offer Tercio y Tapas for as little as 1 or 2 Euros. The more famous bars/pubs in this area are El Tornillo, Velvet Underground, Wah Wahs and Matisse.
Local Foods & Beverages
Watch out for the Agua de Valencia - it's not what it sounds like. Far from a cold, refreshing water, it's actually more like Buck's Fizz - orange juice and Cava. Still, it's lovely stuff.
When it comes to food, Valencia's all about the paella. Typicall served with chicken (and occasionally rabbit), it's rarer to find a good paella served here with seafood, although it is possible. There's no one set way of making the dish, as every restaurant (and Spaniard) will have their own twist. Typical Valencian paella is made in an iron pot over a wood flame - never gas or electric.
Also, beware the restaurants that serve paella for one person only. Typically the dish must be cooked in sufficient quantities to feed at least two people (because of the size of the pan), so any solo servings are almost certain to be pre-prepared or frozen, and not of the best quality. It's also more of an afternoon meal than an evening one, so if you're looking for a good paella head out for a late lunch, rather than a late tea.
Irish & English Pubs
There are a fair few Irish/ex-pat bars in the city centre. Exactly how authentic each of them are, we'll leave it to you to decide, but if you are looking for that taste of home then head along to one of Finnegans of Dublin on Plaza de la Reina, St Patrick's on Gran Via Marqués de Turia, The Guinness House on Plaza de Patriarca, Mulligans on Calle Yecla, The Dubliner on Avenida de la Paz or The News on Calle Coreos.
Where to stay
Hotel The stadium is in a relatively undeveloped area of Valencia, so there isn’t much around it in the way of restaurants, shops or hotels. But it’s close enough to the city center that staying there and taking the metro or tram (or walking) to the stadium shouldn’t be difficult.
